My seventh bike trip this year took me to Wales. From Bristol I cycled over river Severn and northwest throug small villages and rolling green landscapes. The weather was typical engelish, some moments sunny and then alter rainy. No problem with camping and pitching up my tent. My plan and fist goal was Liverpool where I should meet up with one of my workmates.
First tough challange occured when I came to Glyn Ceiriog, a small cozy and typical Wales rual village,to get for Llangollen. Almost 1,3 miles upwards and a slope of 25%…. Puh, swet, gasps and moans!
Then the clody sky open and the sun smiled great. Llangollen was full crowdy because of some international muscial festival. Lunch, beer and walking about. Up to Wrexham I cycled beside the Ellesmere Canal, A completely wonderful and divinely beautiful bike path. After Wrekham I found another similar canal to join
Two nights later I was in Liverpool and met up with my friends, Kenth and Maria. We explored Albert Doc, joined a Hop On-Hop Off Bus and visit Beatles museum. A special memory I still have from this exhibition is the room with John Lennon’s white magnificent grand piano standing alone in the corner.
I became a little speechless, felt my pulse rise, something religious washed over me and ”Imagine ” played in my head.
– Don’t miss this museum… ever –
Then cycling west to Island Anglesey and the villigae with the longest railway station name in the world ”Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch”
Follow west coast, Portmadog, Barmouth, Aberystwyth, Cardigan all the way down to Fishguard and St Davids. What a beautiful trip despite the weather could have been better! But so what!
From St.Davids a boat to Ramsey Island, a Royal Society for the Protection of Birds island (RSPB). 185 miles or 295 km later I was back in Bristol. A round trip , 45 miles or 70 km round trip to Cheddar, the locality has given its name to cheddar cheese.
Then It was time for me to return back home to ”The Heart of High Coast ” Örnsköldsvik
– Wales or Cymru is worth every pennie for you to visit –
